As always, for more information behind each pick, watch Free Money Friday Every Day on the ESPN106.7 twitter account every weekday at 3 pm and every Sat/Sun at 10 am.

Yesterday:

  • Today is a new day with a new slate, so I don’t love to spend a lot of time looking at yesterday’s slate. There’s not a big reason to get too worked up over one day, but it is worth looking at what went right/wrong. I don’t really look at the Sprinkles in hindsight though because I don’t totally expect the team to win. That’s why I only sprinkle the ML. I believe they have a good chance, but I don’t expect the win.
  • Yesterday, I went 13-15 with some close losses.
    • COFC @ JMU O151.5 – Josh Applebaum Theory. 87+68=155. Very close.
    • KENN @ LIB U119.5 – This was the historic 25 pt favorite with O/U under 120. Final was 45+83=128. Kennesaw St did their part by sucking wang. Liberty was just a tad too good.
    • CCAR +7.5 @ UALR – Poor ATS vs Good ATS system play. CCAR lost by 17.
    • UMT +4.5 @ EKY AND U163.5 – I was wrong about this game. UT Martin’s historically bad defense was taken advantage of to the tune of 99 points by EKY.
    • MINN +6.5 @ ILL – Fade public in big conferences system play.
    • NSH @ NJ U6 – Final was 6-5 in SO. Dead. Wrong.
    • PEPP +13.5 @ BYU AND U155.5 – Josh Applebaum Theory. 80-107 final.
    • ARIZ @ WASH U133.5 – 75+72=147. I was wrong.
    • SIUE +16.5 @ PEAY – Poor ATS vs Good ATS system play. Lost by 24. I should never doubt Austin Peay.
    • ORST @ STAN U130.5 – 68+63=131. FT from ORST w 8 seconds left pushed it over. This one is frustrating.
    • COLO ML – half of the MikePick2. They lost to UCLA. I am shocked.

Free Money Friday Every Day: UNDERdog Thursday

By | Talent Columns, Views from the Couch | No Comments

Disclaimer: I changed the way that I am tracking my picks. I realized that I have been tracking the MikePick2 picks and the Sprinkles twice. Once as part of the MikePick2/Sprinkles numbers and again as part of the overall sport picks. I changed it so that the Sprinkles/MikePick2s are no longer part of the overall sport picks.

As always, for more information behind each pick, watch Free Money Friday Every Day on the ESPN106.7 twitter account every weekday at 3 pm and every Sat/Sun at 10 am.

IT’S UNDERDOG THURSDAY

  • Yesterday, I went 8-11 with some close losses.
    • HOU @ POR O238.5 – The final score was 111-125. That is 236 points. That is a few made FTs or one made three pointer from an over.
    • BAY @ ISU +4.5 – Models don’t work 100% of the time.
    • MARQ @ XAV -1 – Xavier lost by 2 in double OT. This just as easily could’ve been a cover or a push.
    • IW @ HB O168.5 – Final: 84-82. That’s 166. It’s also the least number of points that Houston Baptist has given up since their first game of the season. Frustrating.
    • CHT @ SAM +3.5 – Models don’t work 100% of the time.
    • CHI @ IND U214 – Game went to Overtime and the over hit by 7 points. Hard to be upset about losing an under in an OT game.
    • BAMA +5.5 @ LSU – This was just a misread by me. I really thought higher of Alabama than they played last night. It’s also only their 5th ATS loss of the season.
    • TEX @ TCU ML – This was half of the MikePick2 yesterday. TCU lost by 1. I am upset by this.

NBA (40-36 52.63% +0.73u 0.97% ROI):

  • Kings +13.5 @ Clippers

NCAAB (94-97-2):

  • Oregon @ Cal +10.5
  • Minnesota +5 @ Illinois
  • Minnesota @ Illinois U134.5
  • Colorado @ UCLA +4.5
  • Coastal Carolina +6 @ Arkansas Little Rock
  • SIU Ed +15.5 @ Austin Peay
  • Northeastern +2.5 @ William & Mary
  • South Alabama +5.5 @ Georgia State
  • Central Connecticut +17.5 @ St. Francis (PA)
  • Pepperdine +13 @ BYU
  • Kennesaw State @ Liberty -25
  • Kennesaw State @ Liberty U119.5
  • Charleston @ JMU U150.5

  • UT Martin +4.5 @ Eastern Kentucky

Free Money Friday Every Day: Undefeated Yesterday

By | Talent Columns, Views from the Couch | No Comments

I’m not going to lie. The headline is misleading. In total, I went 11-7 last night; HOWEVER, I WAS 4-0 IN THE NBA BABY. UNDEFEATED.

Yesterday in review:

  • TAMU 63 TENN 58: 63+58 = 121 > 120………are you kidding?
  • MICH 79 NEB 68: 79+68 = 147 > 145…………really?
  • SMU 43 CIN 65: 43+65 = 108 < 139.5. I can firmly say that I did not anticipate SMU scoring 43 points in the week after the beat Memphis on the road.
  • MSST 78 FLA 71: I was dead wrong about Reggie Perry not playing well. He dominated with 27 and 8.
  • FSU 56 UVA 61: I should’ve been braver and taken the under. This one was a miss that was felt by a lot of people as the line moved from FSU +1 to FSU -1.5
  • AUB 83 MISS 82: I think it’s safe to say that the chances of an under hitting in a double OT game are slim to none. Auburn was also up by 5 in overtime before committing a foul on a made basket to give up an and-one and then completely collapsing. This game was a total dumpster fire from both teams.
  • All in all, it’s tough to mad about two very close losses and an under in an 2 OT game.

NBA (41-38 52%):

  • CHI @ IND U214
  • MEM (-2.5) @ NYK
  • OKC (-2.5) @ SAC
  • HOU @ POR O238.5

NCAAB (103-111-2):

  • DEP (+9.5) @ HALL
  • DEP @ HALL U143
  • BAMA (+5.5) @ LSU
  • WOF (-7.5) @ CIT
  • DAY @ DUQ (+8.5)
  • CHT @ SAM (+3.5)
  • IW @ HB O168.5
  • SDKS @ ORU (-3.5)
  • WVU @ TTU (-2)
  • IND @ PSU (-5.5)
  • MARQ @ XAV (-1)
  • BAY @ ISU (+4.5)

SPRINKLES (14-15 +1.94u 14.38% ROI):

  • BAMA ML @ LSU
  • WVU ML @ TTU

Free Money Friday Every Day: Super Tuesday

By | Talent Columns, Views from the Couch | No Comments

Yesterday didn’t go very well, but I’m not that upset about it because of what the losses were and how they happened. Wisconsin failed to cover by 0.5. It was announced that Chris Paul wasn’t playing after I had placed my bet on the DAL/OKC over. I went against my gut in not taking a HOU ML sprinkle, and they won. I think Eric Gordon had like 50 pts. That’s obviously an extreme outlier that led to an over. Here are tonight’s picks:

NBA (37-38):

  • NYK @ CHA U208.5
  • BOS (+1.5) @ MIA
  • DEN @ MEM ML – the spread on this game was MEM (-1), so I liked the value more on the ML sprinkle
  • PHX (+6.5) @ DAL – ONLY IF RICKY RUBIO PLAYS

NCAAB (96-104-2):

  • BUFF @ AKR U157.5
  • BALL @ BGSU (+1)
  • MICH @ NEB U145
  • RICH @ VCU (-8.5)
  • SMU @ CIN O139.5
  • URI @ GMU O140
  • MSST @ FLA (-6)
  • FSU (+1) @ UVA
  • PUR @ RUTG (-3)
  • AUB (-5) @ MISS
  • AUB @ MISS U142

MikePick2 (4-8)

  • Parlay: +129
    • AUB ML @ MISS
    • UGA @ MIZZ ML
