On this edition of the Blackerby Breakdown, we look at some exciting plays from Auburn Basketball’s big win last weekend against Mississippi State.
Malik Dunbar with the slam
Any ally-oop needs a solid lob pass and Dunbar received the ball from Bryce Brown. Dunbar showed his athleticism at the junior college ranks before his time at Auburn. His first few games wearing orange and blue were slow but Tiger fans are starting to see more exciting plays like this one.
Mustapha Heron attacks the rim
While Heron has been able to capitalize on his jump shot at times this year, his strength is attacking the basket. We see this here. His ability to use his right hand to lay in the reverse layup may look like an easy finishing move but for Heron, a left-handed wing, shows another instance where his versatility makes this team better.
Jared Harper seals the game
Harper has gained and earned the respect of Auburn fans this season. With his poise and leadership, many see him as the glue that is holding this Auburn basketball team together. He did not have a great night from the floor against Mississippi State but he made the smart play here. He shows his patience and maturity on this play and the easy two points late in the game extended Auburn’s lead to be too much to overcome for Mississippi State.
