The Auburn University golf team secured their spot in the field of eight match play round of the 2018 NCAA Golf Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Monday. Auburn finished the stroke play round with a four day total of 15-over par. Freshman Brandon Mancheno finished the tournament seven under, Jovan Rebula finished two over, Ben Schlottman finished at twelve over, Trace Crowe finished fourteen over, and Wells Padgett finished at twenty over (not scored) for a team total of fifteen over (5th). Oklahoma State (E), Duke (+8), Texas Tech (+9), Oklahoma (+11), Auburn (+15), Alabama (+16), Texas (+16), and Texas A&M (+17) are the eight teams that will compete in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday. The SEC Champion Auburn Tigers will face Oklahoma at 7:50 am CT.
Brandon Mancheno’s four day total of seven under par was good enough to get into a playoff for the individual national championship title, but ultimately fell short of Augusta University’s Broc Everett after one playoff hole.
Pairings have been announced for Auburn’s quarterfinal match against Oklahoma tomorrow, beginning at 7:50 am CT.
