Trussville, AL – The Auburn Boys Varsity Lacrosse team defeated Trussville Saturday 14-9, in a weather-related make-up game. Auburn quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and Trussville was never able to close the gap.
Auburn’s winning effort was led by Senior mid-fielder Coley Blythe who scored four goals, caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls. Auburn spread the scoring throughout the line-up as five other Auburn players scored goals in the contest played in sloppy field conditions at the Trussville Sports Complex.
Auburn goalie Graham Rafferty went the distance and had 11 saves in an effort that saw the Auburn defense only allowing Trussville 20 shots that found the cage. Anderson Grimes and Taylor Kempfer combined to win 13 face-offs.
The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team improves to 3-2 on the season and is in action again Thursday, March 7th. Auburn hosts Baton Rouge Catholic High school in a “friendly” match outside of GBYLA play. The Varsity game faces-off at 6:30 p.m. and the Junior Varsity starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Shug Jordan Athletic Fields.
