Auburn High Beats Parker in Steel City Classic 58-46

By December 22, 2016Auburn High News

After a buzzer beater three by Christian Brandt rimmed out in the first round led to a heartbreaking loss to Ramsay in the first round, the Tigers were placed in the loser’s bracket of the Steel City Classic in Birmingham against Parker High. The scoring was led by a name that hasn’t been mentioned much so far this year, Justin Brooks, who drained 16 points and shot 71% from the field. Garrison Brooks was very impressive in the game as well, as he put up 14 points, 7 assists, 3 blocks, and pulled down 10 rebounds. The Brooks’ efforts helped Auburn pull off a 58-46 win.

Auburn will now go on to face Vestavia tomorrow at 11:00. The Steel City Classic Championship game between Huffman and Mountain Brook will also be tomorrow at 2:30. The full updated bracket is below:

The win pushes Auburn’s record to an impressive 11-3. Also some exciting news for the team yesterday, as seniors Antione Pitts and Lawrence Collins both received offers to play basketball at Andrew College.
