The most important part of the 2018 regular season is here for Auburn High Baseball- area play. Auburn High’s area is made up of Auburn High, Central-Phenix City, and Smiths Station High. The Tigers will play a three game set against each team, starting with Central-Phenix City. The Red Devils currently hold an impressive 19-9 record (Auburn holds a 19-4 record) and lost in the first round of the AHSAA Baseball Playoff last season to Theodore. Auburn and Central will play one game in Auburn on Wednesday followed by a double header on Thursday in Phenix City. The Tigers will then go to Smiths Station for one game on April 18, then play a double header against the Panthers at home on April 19.
Winning games against area opponents is key because the top two teams in each division make it into the 2018 7A Baseball Playoffs, and it all starts Wednesday on the campus of Auburn High School. Scott Bagwell and Riley Hubbard will have the coverage of the game beginning at 5:00 on ESPN 106.7, espnau.com, and on the ESPN 106.7 app. Bagwell and Hubbard will also have coverage of games two and three of the series from Phenix City on Thursday beginning at 4:30. Both of those games will also be streaming online at espnau.com and on the ESPN 106.7 app.
