Auburn High Baseball Falls to Rival Opelika

The Auburn High baseball team took a break from region play to take on their rival Opelika on March 8th, Auburn won at home with a score of 10-4 but didn’t have the same luck Tuesday night in Opelika and fell 6-1. Auburn starter Taylor Adcock struggled on the mound as he gave up three earned runs before being pulled after the second inning. Opelika scored three more in the bottom of the third to take an early 6-0 lead. Auburn’s only offense of the night came from junior Brooks Fuller’s solo home run in the top of the seventh.
Opelika starter Mitch Myers shut down the Tigers. He pitched a complete game (7 innings)  allowing only three hits and one earned run. Auburn played well out of the bullpen as Juniors Robert Chapman, Richard Preus and Wes Starr each pitched a scoreless inning.
The next game for the Tigers will be Friday at home against Oxford. Scott Bagwell and Riley Hubbard will have the call on ESPN 106.7 beginning at 5:30. The game will also be streamed online at espnau.com or on the ESPN 106.7 app.
