This week on ESPN 106.7’s The Lunch Break, Grant Dayton discusses his playing days at Madison, Alabama to becoming a freshman All-American pitcher at Auburn and an eventual eleventh-round draft pick for the Miami Marlins.
Dayton was drafted by the Marlins in the 2010 MLB Draft. During the 2015 season he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for former first-round pick Chris Reed. Then, in July of 2016, Dayton was called up for his major league debut against the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2017, he earned his first major league win. Later that year it was determined he would undergo Tommy John surgery ending his 2017 campaign.
Dayton was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Braves. After a successful surgery and a long road of rehab the left-hander made his Atlanta debut on April 29, 2019.
