Auburn High Basketball Finishes Play at N2Hoops Invitational

The Auburn High Tigers finished their stay in Huntsville at the N2Hoops Invitational on 2-2. After a tough loss in the first round to Lee of Huntsville (55-47), the tigers kept their head up and won the next two rounds over Grissom (46-30) and Murphy (59-49), before losing in the consolation championship to Southwind (52-47). Auburn’s star power forward, Garrison Brooks, had a good road trip, recording 19 points against Grissom and 15 points against Murphy. Christian Brandt put up 12 in the win over  Murphy, including 2 three-pointers. Preston Cook has also been a nice suprise for the Tigers, as he put up 13 points including 2 threes against Grissom.

The N2 Hoops Invitational is the first of four tournament style competitions that AHS will participate in this year. The next will be the Steele City Classic in Birmingham, followed by the Lake City Classic in Atlanta, the Music City Classic in Nashville, and the Hotbed Shootout in New Albany.

The next game for the Auburn High Tigers will be at home against Valley this Tuesday, November 29th at 7:30. Just like every home game, Scott Bagwell and Zac Blackerby will have the live broadcast right here on ESPN 106.7 beginning at 6:00. If you aren’t near a radio, the game can be streamed live on espnau.com or on the ESPN 106.7 app.

Auburn High Basketball Wins Home Opener 78-59

Auburn High’s home opener was a successful one on Thursday night, as the Tigers beat Eufala 78-59. Garrison Brooks and Christian Brandt had the hot hands from the three point line. The win moves the Tigers to a 2-0 record heading into the N2 Hoops Invitational November 21-23. After the game, Assistant Coach Chris Brandt said he was impressed with how the team played and was excited that every player got a chance to get in the game. Garrison Brooks also told us that he is excited for a fun senior season with a talented Auburn team. The next broadcast on ESPN 106.7 will be on November 29th; tip will be at 7:30. 

The Auburn girls team also picked up a win on Thursday over Eufala, winning 56-23, their record moved to 4-3.

AHS Basketball Wins on Opening Night

ahs-logoAuburn High Basketball picked up a big win on their first game of the season, defeating Russell County 68-37. Recent Mississippi State commit Garrison Brooks recorded a double-double, and Junior Christian Brandt had 20 points, with 18 of them coming from the three point line. The win helps Auburn get off to a fast start and build momentum for their first home game on Thursday night against Eufala. That game will tip at 6:30 and be broadcasted on ESPN 106.7. Remember to tune in, listen online, or listen on the ESPN 106.7 app.

The lady Tigers also picked up a win over Russell County, winning 56-23. Their next game will be right before the boys game at home against Eufala.

Caller “Shadow” Wins Auburn/Georgia Prediction Challange

Auburn Falls to Central in Round 3 of the 7A Playoffs 48-9

Auburn High School’s 2016 campaign came to an abrupt end Friday night as they were defeated by Central of Phenix City 48 to 9. After a shocking win last week over Davidson, Auburn was looking for another underdog win, but could never get things going on offense, and Central’s quarterback Zion Webb had a near perfect night including 5 touchdowns- 3 passing and 2 rushing. After the game, Coach Adam Winegarden mentioned the great leadership and fight of this year’s seniors.

AHS 4-Star Forward Garrison Brooks Signs with Mississippi State

Over the past few months, Auburn High School’s standout power forward, Garrison Brooks, became a huge target for many big college basketball programs around the country including offers from Auburn, North Carolina, Mississippi State, and Alabama (11 in total). 247 Sports ranked Brooks as a 4-Star player and the 4th best player in the state of Alabama. On Wednesday at around 9:00 CST, Brooks, in front of a packed gym of fellow students and supporters, announced that he will be taking his talents to Mississippi State University in 2018, a school where his father is an assistant coach.

 

Don’t forget that Garrison and the Auburn High basketball team still has the 2016-2017 season coming up quick, with their first game this Tuesday, November 15th at Russell County.
